Chromosome shaping & segregation
Why does chromosome shape matter for accurate segregation?

01 / The Central Question
Chromosomes contain long DNA molecules that must be carefully packed. Their shape affects whether the two new cells can each receive the correct genetic information.
When chromosomes are not organized or separated correctly, a daughter cell can receive the wrong number of chromosomes. Such chromosome-number abnormalities are also common in cancer cells.
